The seed of UNDERHANCE was planted in that very relatable moment of standing in front of a mirror, loving the outfit you’re in, but wishing you could tweak your silhouette just slightly. Hip dips. Uneven contours. A little less definition here, a little more volume there. The desire to feel completely at home in your own body, on your own terms, every single day.
What frustrated us wasn't the desire itself. It was that nothing on the market actually addressed it properly. Every shapewear option out there was focused on slimming, compressing, and minimising. As if the only goal was to make women less. We wanted to flip that narrative entirely and create something that genuinely enhances curves, rather than erasing them.
That lightbulb moment- the realisation that women deserved shapewear built around addition, not subtraction- is where UNDERHANCE began. And honestly? We haven't looked back since.
Charlotte Van Wesseldine's Journey: From Designer to UNDERHANCE Partner
The vision needed someone with real expertise to bring it to life, and that's where our co-founder and design partner, Charlotte Van Wesseldine, comes in.
Charlotte has spent over a decade as a professional lingerie designer, and she brings an almost obsessive attention to detail to everything we create. For her, this was never just a career move. It was deeply personal, driven by her strong identification with the brand’s mission and identity.
"For me, good quality shapewear is the base of every polished look. As a woman myself who loves to go out, that loves to get dressed up, we really wanted to create a product that could enhance that," she said of the UNDERHANCE journey.
Charlotte's philosophy is woven into every piece we make: good quality shapewear is the bedrock of every look that absolutely slays.
